Alluvial soil is the most widely spread soil. The entire northern plains are made up of alluvial soil .IG is highly fertile soil , hence , intensively cultivated and densly populated . it have been deposited by the three important Himalayan river system , the Indus , the Ganga and the Brahmaputra.  Importance of alluvial soil .  It contain potash , phosphoric acid and lime which are ideal for the growth of sugarcane , paddy , wheat ,bother cereal and pulse crops . It usually found in Rajasthan , Gujarat , Eastern coastal plains particularly on the deltas of the Mahanadi  , the Godaveri , the Krishna and the Kaveri . Soils in the drier areas are more alkaline and can be productive after proper treatment and irrigation. Coarse soil are more common in piedmont plains such as Duars , Chos , Terai.
